Call us or book an appointment so we can order the battery for you – parts typically arrive next day. Contact us to arrange same-day service.
How Battery Replacement Works: Your 15-inch MacBook Pro battery is located beneath the top case and secured with strong adhesive. We carefully remove the bottom case, disconnect internal components for safe access, use specialized tools and controlled heating to safely remove the old battery without damaging the top case aluminum, install the new high-capacity battery with proper adhesive, and reassemble the device with testing.
Important Safety Note – Swollen Batteries: If your trackpad feels stiff, doesn't click properly, or your MacBook doesn't sit flat on a surface, this indicates battery swelling – a potentially hazardous condition. Stop using the device immediately, don't charge it, and don't press on the trackpad or bottom case. Swollen batteries contain pressurized gases and can rupture or catch fire if punctured. Contact us for urgent same-day battery replacement. We handle swollen batteries with specialized safety protocols.
High-Quality Replacement Batteries: We use premium replacement batteries that match Apple's specifications for capacity and performance. Compatible with all MacBook Pro 15" models (A1398). Each battery features:
- Capacity matching original Apple specifications
- Premium lithium-polymer cells from reputable manufacturers
- Integrated battery management system for optimal charging
- Safety certifications (CE, RoHS compliant)
- Pre-installation quality control and capacity testing
- 12-month warranty coverage
Battery Health Monitoring in macOS: After replacement, your 15" MacBook Pro will report accurate battery health information in System Settings > Battery. You can monitor:
- Maximum Capacity – Should show 100% or near 100% after replacement
- Cycle Count – Starts at 0 cycles with new battery
- Condition – Should display "Normal" indicating healthy battery
- Battery Health – macOS Ventura and later show detailed health percentage
We'll demonstrate these indicators after installation and explain how to monitor long-term battery health.
Post-Repair Testing: We verify charging functionality at multiple power levels (low/medium/high), battery percentage accuracy and no erratic jumps, proper sleep/wake cycles and power management, MagSafe or USB-C charging indicator responds correctly, battery health shows "Normal" condition in System Settings, temperature monitoring confirms safe operating range, and full macOS functionality including Bluetooth, WiFi, and all features. All battery replacements are performed at our London repair centre.
Additional Services During Battery Replacement: With your 15-inch MacBook Pro already disassembled for battery replacement, consider these additional services at reduced labour cost:
- Deep cleaning and thermal paste replacement – thorough cleaning of cooling fans and heat sinks, thermal paste refresh on CPU/GPU, prevents overheating and improves performance, especially beneficial for MacBooks over 2 years old
- SSD upgrade (available for models with replaceable SSD only) – increase storage capacity from 512GB to 1TB or 2TB, includes new drive installation, macOS installation, system configuration, and Time Machine data migration assistance
These services cost less when performed during battery replacement since the device is already disassembled.
12-Month Warranty: All battery replacements include a 12-month warranty covering the replacement battery and installation workmanship.
What to Expect After Battery Replacement: Your 15-inch MacBook Pro will have restored battery life matching original specifications, accurate battery percentage readings with stable discharge rate, "Normal" battery condition in System Settings, proper charging behavior with correct time estimates, and reliable performance without unexpected shutdowns.
Battery Lifespan and Care: Modern lithium-polymer batteries typically provide good performance for 500-1000 charge cycles (roughly 2-4 years of normal use). To maximize your new battery's lifespan:
- Avoid extreme temperatures (don't leave MacBook in hot car or freezing conditions)
- Use genuine Apple or certified USB-C/MagSafe chargers only
- Keep macOS updated for optimal battery management
- Enable "Optimized Battery Charging" in System Settings
- Don't leave MacBook plugged in 24/7 (occasionally use on battery power)
- Store long-term at 50% charge in cool, dry location
Common Questions:
- How long does battery replacement take? Battery replacement takes 2-3 hours when batteries are available. Same-day service possible if we have stock or can prepare the battery before your visit.
- Will my data be safe? Battery replacement doesn't directly affect your SSD or data. We never intentionally delete customer data. However, we cannot guarantee data safety during hardware repairs. By agreeing to the service, you accept responsibility for your data. We always recommend backing up important files before any repair using Time Machine or iCloud.
- Do you use genuine Apple batteries? We use premium replacement batteries with the same capacity and performance as the original. These are high-quality replacement parts, not Apple-branded batteries. They provide equivalent capacity, safety, and longevity with better value and longer warranty (12 months vs Apple's 90 days for battery-only service).
- What if I have a swollen battery? Swollen batteries require immediate attention and special handling. Stop using the device and don't charge it. Contact us for urgent same-day service. We safely remove swollen batteries using specialized tools and protocols. There's no additional charge for swollen battery handling.
- Will battery replacement reset my battery health? Yes. Your new battery will show 0 cycle count and 100% maximum capacity in System Settings. Battery condition will display "Normal" and macOS will treat it as a brand new battery.
- Can I upgrade to higher capacity battery? MacBook Pro batteries are engineered specifically for the chassis size and thermal design. We install batteries matching Apple's original capacity specifications – the maximum safe capacity for the device design. "Higher capacity" batteries from unknown sources often use inferior cells and pose safety risks.
- Do you need access to my device for testing? To properly test your MacBook after repair, we need to boot into macOS to verify battery charging, capacity reporting, power management, and system functionality. We can use a guest account if available, or you can provide a user password. If you prefer not to provide access, we can only perform basic power-on testing – but full functionality testing is recommended to ensure your repair is 100% successful.
Diagnostics Available: Not certain if your battery needs replacement? Bring your 15-inch MacBook Pro to one of our London locations for diagnostics. Sometimes power issues stem from faulty chargers, charging port problems, power management controller faults, or SMC/NVRAM settings that don't require battery replacement. We'll run battery health tests including cycle count analysis, capacity verification, charging behavior assessment, and power management diagnostics. You'll receive an honest assessment and accurate quote before any repair work begins.
Check Your Battery Health Now: Before booking this service, check your current battery condition:
- Click the Apple menu () > System Settings
- Click "Battery" in the sidebar
- Check "Battery Health" or "Condition"
- Note the Maximum Capacity percentage and Cycle Count
If your battery shows "Replace Now", "Service Recommended", maximum capacity below 80%, or cycle count over 800, battery replacement is recommended. If you're unsure, bring your MacBook in for free assessment.
Important: Additional Damage Disclosure
If your MacBook Pro 15-inch has any additional damage beyond the battery issue, please mention it when booking your repair:
- Existing front glass damage (cracks, display issues)
- Keyboard issues (sticky keys, non-responsive keys)
- Software issues
- Liquid damage or exposure to moisture
- Any other visible damage to the device
If we discover liquid damage and corrosion during repair, liquid damage cleaning may be required at additional cost. Swollen battery or serious damage to casing may also require additional attention. We'll always inform you and get your approval before proceeding with any additional work. If you choose not to proceed with the repair due to additional damage or costs, a standard diagnostic service fee will apply.
