Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about iPhone, MacBook, Samsung and device repair at Wimbledon

What devices can you repair at your Wimbledon workshop?

Wimbledon is our main technical centre — we handle everything from standard screen and battery replacements to advanced motherboard repairs that other shops can’t do. iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, OnePlus and other phones. iPads, Microsoft Surface tablets. MacBook Pro and Air, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus and other laptops. Also DJI drones and gaming consoles.

This is where our most complex work happens: component-level motherboard diagnostics under microscope, microsoldering, BGA rework, liquid damage recovery with ultrasonic cleaning, and professional data recovery using PC3000 equipment. If your laptop won’t turn on, your MacBook has a logic board fault, or another shop said it’s unrepairable — this is the right place.

How quickly can you replace an iPhone screen?

The actual screen replacement takes 1-2 hours. If you book ahead and we pre-order the screen (usually ready next day), you can have it replaced while you wait. A 50% deposit is required for pre-ordered parts.

No deposit option: drop off your phone without booking, and collect it next day or within 2 days when ready. You only pay once you’ve confirmed the repair meets your expectations.

Can I drop in without booking an appointment?

Yes, drop-ins are welcome at our Wimbledon shop. You can bring your device in anytime during opening hours and we’ll assess it on the spot. No appointment needed if you’re happy to leave the device for 1-2 days.

If you want a same-day while-you-wait repair, book an appointment so we can pre-order parts. We’ll contact you for a deposit, order the part, and call you in when it arrives — typically next day. The repair itself then takes 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the job.

What warranty comes with your repairs?

Every repair includes a minimum 6-month warranty on both parts and labour. Some repairs carry up to 12 months depending on the parts supplier’s warranty terms.

Liquid damage cleaning is excluded from warranty because it’s a cleaning process — if corrosion damage appears later, it’s caused by component deterioration that wasn’t visible initially. The warranty also doesn’t cover new damage or subsequent liquid exposure.

Will my data be safe during the repair?

We never delete customer data during repairs. If your device powers on and you provide the password, we can create a backup before starting work — just let us know when booking.

That said, we always recommend making your own backup before bringing the device in. Some repairs carry inherent risks to data, especially liquid damage cases and motherboard work. If data recovery is your priority, let us know upfront and we’ll adjust our approach accordingly.

How much does a diagnostic assessment cost?

A quick estimate in-shop or via email is free. Full diagnostics costs £39 and includes opening the device, software and hardware testing, visual inspection under microscope, preliminary troubleshooting, and checking parts availability with suppliers.

Full diagnostics typically takes 1-3 days, though obvious issues can be identified faster. If you go ahead with the repair, the £39 is deducted from your repair cost. If you decide not to proceed, the fee covers the diagnostic work already completed.

Do you offer a mail-in repair service?

Yes. You can send your device to our Wimbledon workshop by courier and we’ll return it once repaired. Useful if you’re outside London or can’t visit in person.

For London customers, we can arrange same-day collection and return through our courier partner at an additional charge. Contact us to arrange — we’ll provide current rates and collection instructions.
