Your Part Is Three Things
The rest is ours.
Say what it is doing
You get a price back, usually the same day. Asking costs nothing.
Box it and send it
The address comes with your confirmation. Post it, or a courier collects.
Wait, without wondering
A message when it lands, when we find the fault, and when it ships back.
Packing It, in Four Moves
Devices do not break because a box got thrown. They break because they could move inside it.
You need a box, packing tape, and something to pad with. Your job number is in your confirmation email — the address is at the bottom of this section.
Wrap it
Two or three turns of bubble wrap. Screen face first.
Pack the gaps
Bubble wrap, foam or scrunched paper — top and bottom too.
Drop a note in
Your name, job number and a phone number. Labels fall off; notes do not.
Tape every seam
Including the ones the box came glued along. Then post it tracked.
Then shake it
Hear or feel anything shift? It is not finished. That one test catches every packing mistake there is.
Send it to
Fixfactor136 Kingston Road
London SW19 1LY
Write your name and job number on the note inside the box. Post it tracked, and keep the receipt.
And for Yours Specifically
Three things each, on top of the four above.
Phones
- Case off, SIM and memory card out
- Tape across cracked glass — it holds the pieces
- Send the passcode, or turn off Find My
Tablets
- A sheet of card over the whole screen
- Extra padding on the corners — corners take the hit
- Leave the folio and the pen at home
Laptops
- Nothing between lid and keyboard. Nothing
- Send the charger — half of power faults are the charger
- Loose screws go in a bag, not taped on
Drones
- Propellers off and bagged, arms folded
- Gimbal clamp on — it is the most delicate part
- Battery stays in. Spares stay home
Consoles
- The whole set: console, power lead, HDMI, a pad, a game
- Leave any disc where it is
- We test on your kit, not ours
Anything else
- Desktops and all-in-ones: double-walled box, ask us first
- Bare drives for data recovery: antistatic bag, rigid box
- Unsure? Photograph the open box and send it to us
Damaged and swollen lithium cells are forbidden in the post — Royal Mail and every UK courier. A back that is lifting, a trackpad bowing upwards, a case that will not close flat: that is a swollen battery. Call 020 8543 7088 and we will find another way to get it here.
Otherwise: battery stays inside the device, device switched off, and no more than four cells or two batteries per parcel.
Where It Is, Day by Day
Usually five working days door to door. Two of those are the post.
- Day 1You post it
- Day 2It lands — we tell you
- Day 2–3Priced — you approve it
- Day 3–4Repaired and tested
- Day 5Back with you
Your MacBook is here, booked in as job 40318, photographed as it came out of the box.
Liquid has taken out the keyboard backlight rail. Price and timescale in this message — say the word.
Repaired, tested for two hours, posted this afternoon. Tracking number below.
A straightforward power fault can be finished in a couple of days; a multi‑rail short after liquid damage can take a week or more. If yours is going to run longer, you hear it as soon as we know.
In London? Out and Back the Same Day
Same-day collection can sometimes be arranged through a third-party courier, subject to your location, availability and courier cost — a courier collection & return either side of the bench.
We charge what the courier charges, with nothing on top. Book your own instead if you would rather; if you already have an account with one, that is usually cheaper.
It has to be a job we can finish in a day, with the part already here. Ask before you book the collection.
The Journey Home
Priced by the parcel, not the repair. Both options tracked and insured.
| Parcel | Tracked, 3–6 days | Next working day |
|---|---|---|
| Phones | £15 | £30 |
| iPads, Surface | £25 | £40 |
| Laptops, drones, consoles | £30 | £50 |
| iMacs, towers | £60 | £90 |
Next working day is not offered on diagnostics, liquid damage or data recovery — the return leg only starts when the assessment ends, and nobody yet knows when that is. It opens up once the repair is agreed. Posting from outside the UK: the postage is yours and we do not cover or refund it, and the prices above are UK only — ask us before you send.
Mail-In Repair FAQ
I do not know what is wrong with it. Can I still send it?
Yes, and most people cannot say precisely what is wrong — that is what a diagnosis is for. Describe what it is doing in plain words and send it.
The diagnostic fee is paid upfront. If you approve the repair and we fix it, the fee comes off the repair price. If you decide not to go ahead, or the fault turns out not to be repairable, the fee covers the diagnostic work.
What happens to my files?
We never delete anything on purpose and we do not open your files. On most repairs — screen, back glass, battery, charging port — your data is untouched, and unlike the manufacturer we do not wipe devices or ask you to disable Find My.
We cannot guarantee it, though. Devices arrive already faulty, and a repair is often the moment a failing part finally gives up. Back it up before you post it if the device still switches on. If the contents matter more than the device does, say so when you book — sometimes that makes it a data recovery rather than a repair.
Do I pay before or after?
Where the repair is known and priced, you can pay when you book, or choose Pay After Repair — send the device first and pay once the repair is done, before it goes back out.
Where the job starts with a diagnosis, the diagnostic is paid at booking and the repair itself is quoted and approved afterwards. Nothing beyond what you have agreed is charged without asking you first.
What if you cannot fix it?
Then we tell you why, with the findings and photographs from under the microscope, and in writing if you ask. You pay the diagnostic and the return postage and nothing else.
Plenty of devices arrive here with an ‘unrepairable’ verdict from somewhere else and leave working after board-level work. Diagnosis is how we find out which yours is.
Is it insured in the post?
Coming back to you, yes — every return is tracked and insured, covered by the parcel band you paid.
Going to us, the postage is yours, so the cover is whatever you buy at the counter. Standard cover on most services is low. If the device is worth more than that, pay for cover that matches it and keep the receipt.
What is covered afterwards?
Repairs where we fit a part carry six to twelve months, depending on the warranty the part itself carries. Board-level work carries six months. Liquid damage treatment carries three. Data recovery carries none — you confirm the recovered files before you pay for them.
The periods in full are on the warranty page. If a repair fails inside its cover, you post it back to us at your cost and we return it at ours.
