What Is It Doing?
Start with the symptom – working out which part it is, is our job. We repair consoles, not detachable Joy-Cons.
Charges only at an angle
The port wears out after a few thousand dockings. Brought in now it is one repair; left running, it shorts and becomes two.
The screen is cracked
If the display still works under the crack, front glass is the cheaper answer. We check first.
Black or lined screen
A panel fault, not glass. Four consoles share the name and none share a screen.
Hot, or loud across the room
Usually a fan packed with dust; sometimes a worn bearing. You hear which in the test.
Dead, even on the charger
More often the charging circuit than the battery. Telling those apart is the first job.
A Joy-Con will not attach
The rail on the console side is board work, and that we do. Drift inside the Joy-Con we do not.
Handheld fine, docked not
Often the dock rather than the console. Bring both – testing the pair costs nothing.
Game cards are not read
The card slot is a board-mounted connector, replaced under the microscope like the ports.
Something got spilt on it
Do not power it on or charge it. Cleaning works far better on day one than in week two.
None of these?
Buttons, casings, card readers, docks. Detachable Joy-Con drift is the one job we turn away.
Which Switch do you have?
Four consoles share the name and almost none of the parts. The screen in particular is a different part and a different price on each.

Board-Level Repair, in Plain Terms
Nintendo replaces the console or the whole board. We replace the component that failed – on a Switch, almost always the charging port or the chip behind it. This is the work other shops send to us.

A new port alone often will not fix it
A port that has been shorting usually takes the charging chip with it. That is why there are two prices on this page, and why the diagnosis decides which one you pay – not a guess.
Six months on board work
Board-level repairs carry a 6-month warranty. Every console is charged, docked, undocked and run before it goes back.
We diagnose before we quote, and quote before we touch anything. If a console is beyond sensible repair, we say so before you spend anything on it.
The charging port is the fault of this console
A Switch is docked and undocked thousands of times, and every one of those puts force into a USB-C port soldered flat to the mainboard. It wears, then it works only at an angle, then it shorts. What matters is the order: while it is only worn, it is a port repair. Once it has shorted, it is a port and a charging chip – a deeper, dearer job on the same console. Nothing on this page saves more money than bringing it in at the first stage.
Front glass or a whole screen – the question worth asking
On the original Switch and the Lite the glass, the touch layer and the display are separate parts, so a crack in the glass over a working display is a smaller repair than a full screen. On the OLED they are bonded into one assembly and there is no cheaper route. Shops that quote one price for “cracked screen” across all models are quoting the expensive answer to a question they have not asked.
Where the Switch 2 stands right now
The Switch 2 is new enough that independent part supply is still thin, and we would rather say that than take a console in and leave you waiting. Most Switch 2 consoles are also still inside Nintendo’s warranty, and if yours is, we will tell you to use it. Where the fault is out of warranty, or the console has physical damage a warranty would not cover, we assess it first and tell you plainly what is available before you commit to anything.

Stop Charging It

A port replacement and a port plus charging IC are materially different repairs. Which one you need is decided by how long the console keeps being used on a failing port – not by us.

Diagnosis comes before a price, always. Microscopes, hot-air rework stations, a thermal camera to find the component running hot and a meter to follow the power rails. Parts are matched to your exact console rather than to the range – four machines share the Switch name and almost none of the parts.
And we say when a cheaper job is the right one. If the glass is cracked but the display underneath is fine, that is a front glass repair, not a screen. If the port is the fault and the chip is intact, you pay for the port. The verdict comes with the diagnosis, before you commit to anything.

My Switch only charges when I hold the cable at an angle. What is it?
A worn or damaged USB-C port, and it is the most common Switch repair there is. Stop charging it – while power runs through a failing port it can short and take the charging chip on the board with it, which turns one repair into two. Brought in early it is a port replacement.
Do I need a new screen, or just the glass?
On the original Switch and the Lite, if the display and touch still work correctly under the cracked glass, front glass repair is the cheaper and correct answer – and we check that before quoting. On the OLED the glass and panel are bonded into one assembly, so there is no separate glass job.
How long does a Switch repair take?
Screens, glass, fans and drives are usually one to three working days once the part is here. Charging ports and charging ICs are board-level work under a microscope and take two to four. You get the timescale with the quote rather than after.
Can you fix Joy-Con drift?
On a Switch Lite, yes – the sticks are soldered into the console, so it is board work and it is ours. On detachable Joy-Cons we do not take the job: a replacement pair costs little more than the bench time, and we would rather tell you that than charge for it.
Will I lose my games or saves?
No. Screens, glass, ports, fans and connectors do not touch your storage. If a fault involves the internal memory we tell you before going near it, and you decide.
It got wet. Is it worth bringing in?
Yes, and quickly. Do not power it on and do not charge it – what finishes a board is current running through wet traces, not the liquid. We strip it, clean it ultrasonically, treat the corrosion and tell you honestly what survived before any repair goes ahead. Liquid work is quoted after assessment rather than at a fixed price.
Do you repair the Switch 2?

Can you repair the dock as well?
Yes – docks fail more often than people expect, and a console that only works handheld is sometimes a dock fault rather than a console fault. Bring both in if you are not sure which one is the problem; testing the pair costs nothing extra.
