What Is It Doing?
Start with the symptom — working out which part it is, is our job. We repair consoles, not controllers.
No picture at all
Console on, TV says no signal on every input. Nine times in ten it is the HDMI port, soldered flat to the board.
Picture comes and goes
Stop using it today. A loose port shorts against the board, and that turns one repair into two.
Nothing, or one beep
Half are the power supply, half the board. We test first, so you pay for the part that failed.
Loud, hot, then shuts down
Dust and migrated liquid metal, not a dying console. Temperatures measured under load, before and after.
Will not read a disc
Grinding, stuck, or read as an empty tray. A jammed mechanism, or a paired replacement drive.
Turns itself off at random
Under load it is heat. Cold, or right after the logo, it is not — and that is diagnostics.
Errors, or odd behaviour
Intermittent faults have to be reproduced before they can be found. That is what the bench is for.
I want more storage
Do it yourself and keep the money. Sony built the M.2 slot for one screw and no tools.
Something got spilt on it
Rare on a console. Do not power it on — taken on assessment, not at a fixed price.

Four machines share the name, and they do not share parts. The disc drive in particular is a different job on each — tell us which one and the price stops being a range.

Board-Level Repair, in Plain Terms
Out of warranty, Sony’s route is a replacement console — and the machine that leaves you takes your drive, your saves and everything installed on it. Ours is finding the component that failed and replacing that one, which on a PS5 is usually a soldered port or a single chip behind it. You keep your console. This is the work other shops send to us.
HDMI Ports
Soldered to the mainboard, removed with hot air and replaced under the microscope, then tested through 4K output.
Retimer and BGA Work
The chip that drives the HDMI output, replaced on a rework station with a controlled heat profile.
Power Circuits
Rails followed with a meter and a thermal camera until we find where the voltage stops — rather than replacing the supply and hoping.
Component-Level Replacement
The small parts that actually fail in a machine that runs hot: capacitors, MOSFETs, voltage regulators, blown fuses.
Liquid Metal, Properly
Applied the way Sony designed it, with the correct containment. It is conductive, which is why most shops use paste and quote less.
Tested Before It Leaves
Run under sustained load, not powered on once. Temperatures logged, output checked, drive exercised.
We diagnose before we quote, and quote before we touch anything. If the board is beyond sensible repair we say so — that answer is free, and you keep the diagnosis.
What happens to a PS5 in the UK once the warranty ends
Sony’s support in this country is a courier process, and out of warranty the usual outcome is a replacement or refurbished console rather than a repair of yours — with your storage, your saves and whatever is still installed going with the old machine. That is a reasonable process for Sony and an expensive one for you, particularly on a Pro. A soldered port or a single chip is a repair, and it is the repair we do daily.
Why the HDMI port is the fault of this generation
A PS5 is tall, light and top-heavy, and it usually lives with a stiff cable plugged into the back. Move it, knock it, or transport it without unplugging, and the force goes into a port that is soldered flat to the mainboard. It is not a design people talk about, but it is why this single repair outnumbers everything else we see on the platform — and why unplugging the lead before you move the console is the cheapest advice on this page.
Liquid metal is the part most repairs get wrong
Sony shipped the PS5 with liquid metal between the processor and the heatsink because the cooling was designed around it. It is electrically conductive and has to be contained properly, so a cheaper clean almost always means paste instead — which works, at higher temperatures, on a console that came to you because it was running hot. If a quote for a thermal service does not say which one it uses, it is worth asking.

A Loose HDMI Port
If the picture comes and goes when the lead moves, stop using it. A loose port shorts against the board, and a short is what turns a port repair into a chip repair.

A Disc That Will Not Eject
Do not force it and do not keep pressing eject. Forcing it is what turns a jam into a new drive — and a new drive has to be paired to your console.

Bring It As It Is
Console only, disc left where it is. No leads, no controller, no stand needed — we have all of that here.
Neither fault fixes itself and neither stays the same size. If the console still works intermittently, that is the cheap moment to bring it in, not after it stops entirely.

Diagnosis comes before a price, always. Microscopes, hot-air rework stations, a thermal camera to find the component running hot and a meter to follow the power rails until the voltage stops. Nothing is ordered and nothing is opened beyond the assessment until you have said yes to a number.
We also say no. We do not repair controllers, we will tell you when the M.2 slot is something you can use yourself in five minutes, and we will tell you when a console is not worth the repair. A shorter list of things done properly beats a longer one done adequately.

My PS5 has no picture. Is that the HDMI port?
Usually, and it is the most common PS5 repair there is. The other candidate is the retimer chip on the board that drives the output — the symptoms are identical, and a damaged port can take the chip with it. We test before quoting and tell you which of the two you are paying for.
Sony quoted a replacement console. Can you repair mine instead?
In most cases, yes, and you keep your own machine, your storage and your saves. A service centre replaces consoles because that is the process they work to; we repair the component that failed. Diagnosis comes first, so you can compare the two figures before deciding.
How long does a PS5 repair take?
A thermal service is usually one to two working days. Disc drives run to two or three. Board-level work — HDMI ports, retimer chips, power faults — takes two to four, because it is bench time under a microscope rather than a swap. You get the timescale with the quote rather than after.
Will I lose my games, saves or account?
No. None of the repairs listed here touch your storage or sign you out. If a fault turns out to involve the internal SSD we tell you before going near it, and you decide.
My fan is very loud. Does it need replacing?
Usually not. On a console a few years old it is nearly always dust in the heatsink and liquid metal that has migrated, and a proper strip, clean and re-application fixes it — measured under load, before and after, so you can see it worked. If the bearing has actually gone, you will hear that in the test and we quote the fan separately.
There is a disc stuck inside. Can I get it out myself?
Please do not try. Forcing a disc is what turns a jammed mechanism into a replacement drive, and on a PS5 a replacement drive has to be paired to your console at board level rather than simply fitted. Bring it in with the disc where it is — we get both out.
Can you upgrade the storage?
You can do it yourself, and we would rather tell you that than charge for it: Sony designed the M.2 slot to be opened with one screw and no tools, and the console formats the drive for you. Bring it to us if it will not detect the drive you have fitted, or if the slot itself is damaged.
Do you repair DualSense controllers?
No. Stick drift is the common fault and it is a job that rarely justifies the bench time next to the price of a replacement controller, so we would be taking money to do something you should not pay for. Consoles we repair down to the component; controllers we do not take.
Do you repair Xbox and Steam Deck too?
