PlayStation 5 HDMI port repair
The most common PS5 fault we see, and almost always the same story: the console was moved, knocked or transported with the cable still in, and the port took the force. Sometimes there is no picture at all; sometimes it works until something nudges the lead.
The port is soldered directly to the mainboard, so it is not a plug-in part. The old one comes off with hot air, the pads are cleaned and inspected under the microscope, and a new port goes on and is tested through 4K output before the console goes back to you.

Port, or the retimer chip behind it?
A PS5 with no picture has two likely culprits: the port itself, or the HDMI retimer chip on the board that drives it. They produce identical symptoms and a damaged port can take the retimer with it. We test before we quote, and if the retimer is the fault we tell you and price that separately — you can also stop at the diagnosis and pay only for that.

- How long does it take? Typically two to four working days — this is bench work under a microscope, not a swap.
- Sony quoted a replacement console. Is a repair really possible? Yes. Replacing a soldered port is routine work for us; a service centre replaces boards because that is the process they work to.
- Can I keep using it in the meantime? Better not. A loose port shorts against the board, and a short is what turns a port repair into a retimer repair.
- Will I lose my games or saves? No. This work does not touch the storage or your account.
