A PS5 that will not turn on, beeps once and dies, or shuts down under load. We find out whether it is the power supply or the mainboard before anyone replaces either.

PlayStation 5 power fault repair
No light, one beep and nothing, a blue light that never turns white, or a console that dies the moment a game loads. The cause is usually the internal power supply, and sometimes the power circuitry on the mainboard — and those need telling apart before anything is bought.
We test the supply under real load rather than at idle, then check the rails on the board. If the supply has failed we fit a new one; if the board has, that is component-level repair, which is work we do here rather than send away.
Walk in, book a visit or use the UK-wide mail-in service. Repairs are covered by our parts-and-labour warranty.
Why we do not just fit a new power supply
Because roughly half the time it is not the supply. Fitting one blind means the customer pays for a part that was never broken and still has a dead console. Testing takes an hour and tells us which of the two it is — and occasionally that it is neither, and the console has a storage or firmware fault that looks like a power fault from the outside.
Common Questions
- How long does it take? Two to four working days. Power supplies are stocked; board-level work takes bench time.
- It beeps once and turns off. Is that the power supply? Often, but not always — the same single beep comes from a board fault and from some storage faults. It is exactly what the test answers.
- Is it worth repairing rather than replacing the console? Almost always, on a PS5. We will tell you plainly if yours is the exception.
- Will I lose my games or saves? No. Power work does not touch the storage.
