A PS5 that has spent a few years in a warm room fills with dust, and the liquid metal between the processor and the heatsink migrates. The console gets loud, then hot, then starts shutting itself down — usually in the middle of the game you least wanted to lose.
The console is stripped, the heatsink and fan cleaned properly rather than blown through, old liquid metal removed, new liquid metal applied with the correct containment, and the thermal pads on the memory and power stages replaced. Then it is run under sustained load, and you get the temperatures before and after.

Why liquid metal, and why it is not a paste job
Sony shipped the PS5 with liquid metal because the cooling design assumes it. Applying it is a careful job — it is electrically conductive and has to be contained, which is why most shops use paste instead and quote less. Paste works, at higher temperatures, and on a console already running hot that is the difference between fixed and quieter-for-a-while. We do it the way the machine was designed.

- My fan is very loud. Is that dust or a failed fan? Usually dust and dried thermal transfer. If the bearing has gone, you will hear it in the test and we quote the fan separately.
- Will this fix shutdowns? If they are heat-related, yes — and the before-and-after temperatures show it. If the console still shuts down cold, the fault is elsewhere and diagnostics is the right route.
- Is it worth doing before anything goes wrong? On a console three years or older that lives in a cabinet, yes. It is the cheapest thing you can do for a PS5.
