The iPad 5 is the last standard iPad that took no Apple Pencil at all, and one of the easier ones to be lucky on: the front glass and the LCD behind it are separate parts with an air gap between them, so a cracked front over a working picture is a glass job rather than a display job.
We test the LCD before quoting - touch in every zone, the picture at full brightness, no lines across it. If the panel underneath has gone too we say so, rather than fitting new glass over a broken screen. The Touch ID home button is paired to your logic board and is carried across from the original glass.
