On this iPad the front glass (digitiser) and the LCD behind it are two separate parts. If the glass is cracked but the picture is still clean and the touch still works everywhere, replacing the glass alone costs considerably less than a full display assembly.
We check the LCD first and tell you which of the two you actually need — if the panel underneath is damaged too, we say so rather than fitting glass over a broken screen.
