The M4 Pro takes Thunderbolt / USB 4 rather than plain USB-C, so the port carries display output and high-speed data as well as power. That widens the set of symptoms: it can charge perfectly and still have lost the data lines, or drive an external display and refuse to charge.
Whichever it is, the connector is soldered to the logic board and replacing it is microsoldering. On this generation the display above is a tandem OLED panel and the most expensive part in the device, so the way in is planned and slow - and you get the quote before anything is opened.
