The rear panel and the frame are plastic, not glass - only the front is Gorilla Glass Victus. A cracked or lifted rear panel is not only cosmetic: the panel is part of what holds the phone sealed, and once the edge has lifted, dust and moisture have a way in.
Plastic does not shatter the way glass does, so what we usually see is a split along a corner or an edge that has lifted after a drop - and a lifted edge is an open seal.
The job runs the same way either way: the old panel is released under controlled heat, the adhesive residue is cleaned off the frame, everything that lives on the back - antennas, sensors, flash window, fingerprint components where fitted - is transferred, and the new panel goes on with fresh adhesive. One to two hours once the part is on the bench, and we order per repair, so book ahead if you want it done the same day.
