The mini 6 packs a 19.3 watt-hour cell into an 8.3-inch chassis, which leaves almost no slack anywhere around it. The laminated display above has to come off without flexing the frame, and the frame on a mini is easy to flex - that is the difference between a device that sits flush afterwards and one that never quite does again.
We fit the new cell, reseal and check charging over USB-C before handover. A mini that runs warm on charge and then falls from forty per cent to nothing is usually telling you the cell is finished, not that the software needs attention.
