We test the phone, find the fault and give you a firm quote before any repair starts. The right service when the symptoms do not point at one obvious part - after a drop, after liquid, or when the phone misbehaves in ways a screen or battery swap will not explain.
Tell us your priority first: the phone, or what is on it. Most diagnostic work leaves data untouched, but some procedures - a software reload, board-level work after liquid damage - carry risk to it. If the files matter more than the phone, say so when you book and we treat it as a data recovery case from the start.
What the assessment involves: visual inspection under the microscope, battery, screen, camera and charging tests, and board-level measurements where the fault calls for them. After liquid damage it includes ultrasonic cleaning of the board before anything is measured.
One limit: iPhone X, XS, 11 and every model from the 12 onwards (the XR and SE excepted) use a stacked board - two boards soldered together. If one of those arrives completely dead with no visible cause, full diagnosis would mean desoldering the layers apart, which this fee cannot cover. We tell you so - the realistic route is data recovery, with budgets from £500.
The fee is credited towards the repair if you go ahead. If the phone turns out to be beyond economical repair, we say so - and can offer to buy it for parts, or return it, your choice. For an unusual model or fault, message us the model and symptoms before ordering and we will say whether the parts exist.
