Same 8.3-inch laminated panel format as the mini 6, same tight frame, same rule: glass and LCD are one bonded assembly, so a crack means the whole part. What is worth checking first is whether the display is genuinely at fault - a mini showing lines can be a seated cable rather than a dead panel, and that is a very different job.
Where it does need replacing, the old panel is heated out, the new one fitted, and the device resealed. Touch, brightness, rotation and Apple Pencil Pro input are all tested before you get it back.
