What we fix
From screen flickering to battery swelling, we handle all Surface Book 2 13.5-inch issues with specialist expertise

Cracked Screen Replacement
Dropped it, or cracked the glass? The glass and digitizer are fused into one assembly, so the whole panel gets replaced. On a Surface Book the display half is a complete computer in its own right – processor, memory and one of the two batteries all sit behind that glass – which is why it has to come off cleanly rather than quickly. We use controlled heating and the proper tools. Touch fully restored.

Swollen Battery Replacement
Screen lifting away from its frame, or the keyboard base rocking on the desk instead of sitting flat? That is a swelling battery pushing from the inside. A Surface Book 2 13.5-inch has two of them – one behind the display, one in the keyboard base – and they fail independently, so the first job is working out which. The base battery does most of the charge cycling and usually goes first. We remove the failed cell, fit a quality replacement and test both halves together. A swollen cell is a fire risk; this is not one to leave.

Charging Port Issues
Surface Connect port not charging reliably, or only at certain angles? The magnetic port sits in the keyboard base and feeds both batteries through the hinge connector, so a worn port often shows up first as a display half that never reaches full charge. We diagnose whether the fault is the port, a battery, the hinge contacts or the charging circuit on the board. Often it can be repaired rather than replaced.

Device Won't Turn On
Surface Book 2 13.5-inch completely dead, or dead only when detached? Both halves have to be healthy for the machine to run, so a flat base battery, a failed board or corrupted firmware all look the same from the outside. We check the power circuits, the health of each battery separately, the hinge connector and the boot sequence. Plenty of "dead" Surface Books come back. You get an honest assessment before anything starts.

Liquid Damage Recovery
Spilled something on your Surface Book 2 13.5-inch? Time is what matters – power it off, detach the screen if it will still detach, and get it to us. Most spills land in the keyboard base, but liquid travels through the hinge, so both halves get opened, both batteries get disconnected and the boards are ultrasonically cleaned before corrosion sets in. The sooner it arrives, the more we can save.

Screen Will Not Detach
Press the detach key and nothing happens, or the light stays red? The Surface Book holds its two halves together with a wire latch that only releases under power and only when the software agrees. A flat base battery, a stuck driver or a failed latch motor all end the same way – two halves that will not separate. We diagnose which of the three it is before forcing anything, because forcing it breaks the frame.

Software Issues
Surface Book 2 13.5-inch running slow, crashing, or infected with malware? We handle all software problems – from full Windows reinstallation and system recovery to virus and malware removal. We also troubleshoot boot issues, driver conflicts, and blue screen errors. Need your files back? We offer data recovery services for failing drives or accidentally deleted data.
* Same-day service completed within hours, provided replacement parts are prepared for your visit. We typically stock parts for next-day availability. If interested, please contact us first to confirm availability.
** Depending on whether the cleaning service detects damaged components and whether parts need to be ordered or the logic board repaired, the repair may take longer.
Ways to Use Our Service
Two convenient ways to get your Surface Book 2 13.5-inch repaired – walk-in or mail-in service
The Surface specialists
Over 12 years and 220,000+ repairs behind us. The Surface Book 2 13.5-inch is one of the hardest machines on the market to repair, and not by accident: it is two glued computers joined by a hinge, with a battery sealed inside each half and most of the silicon soldered to the board. The 13.5-inch base carries a discrete GPU on the higher configurations. Most repair shops turn them away. We bought the heating stations, the microscopes and the training instead.
We take on the whole range: swollen batteries in either half, charging and hinge-connector faults, failed detach latches, and board-level work under the microscope. Screens come off on a controlled heating station and go back on with the proper adhesive, not tape. If your Surface is fine but running slow, we can refresh the software or upgrade the SSD.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Surface Book 2 13.5-inch repair services
Didn’t find your question? Ask us directly — we answer the same working day.
01How long does Surface Book 2 13.5-inch repair take?
Repairs take 2-3 hours when parts are available. We do not hold stock, so same-day means the part was ordered ahead of your visit — or ahead of your device arriving by courier. Complex cases with frame damage or motherboard work may require next-day completion.
Contact us to request same-day service and check parts availability for your specific repair.
02Will my data be safe during the repair?
Screen, battery, and charging port replacements don’t directly affect your software or storage. We never intentionally delete customer data. However, we cannot guarantee data safety during hardware repairs.
By agreeing to the service, you accept responsibility for your data. We always recommend backing up important files before any repair.
03My battery is swelling – is it dangerous?
If your screen is bulging or pushing outward, this indicates battery swelling – a potentially hazardous condition. Stop using the device immediately and don’t charge it. Swollen batteries can rupture or catch fire if punctured.
Contact us for urgent same-day battery replacement. Don’t try to puncture or force the screen back down.
04What warranty do you offer?
All Surface Book 2 13.5-inch repairs include a comprehensive 6-12 month warranty (depending on supplier warranty on parts) covering both replacement parts and installation workmanship. Screen replacements performed during battery or charging repairs are also covered.
This warranty is valid at our Wimbledon store in London. Terms and conditions apply.
05My Surface Book has two batteries – which one has failed?
One battery sits behind the display and one in the keyboard base. Windows reports them separately, and the base battery normally wears out first because it takes most of the charge cycles. The symptoms differ too: a swelling base battery makes the machine rock on the desk or the base bow outwards, while a swelling display battery pushes the glass away from its frame.
We test both before quoting. Replacing one does not require replacing the other, and we will tell you plainly if only one needs doing.
06How quickly can you get the part for my repair?
Usually we can have the part in for the next day — though it can be 1–2 days, depending on what time the order goes in and on availability. Surface parts for older models can occasionally take longer, so if timing matters to you, ask us before ordering and we will check your exact model. And if a part is ever delayed, we contact you with the new date rather than leave you guessing.
07How does the diagnostic fee work?
The diagnostic fee is paid upfront — at the counter when you bring the device in, or online when you post it. Go ahead with the repair and the fee is credited in full, so the assessment effectively costs you nothing. If the device turns out to be beyond economical repair, the fee covers the work of finding that out. If you prepaid for a repair and diagnosis shows a different fault, we contact you with options; cancel at that point and we refund the price minus the diagnostic fee, plus a £10 restocking charge when an ordered part has to go back to the supplier.
